Merry Christmas students and faculty at IES Doctor Francisco Marín!
This is Tyler. I wanted to tell you about some of the Christmas traditions that we have in the United States. Do you remember that we talked about Thanksgiving in class? Well, in the United States the Christmas season starts after Thanksgiving. It is very common for people to decorate their houses with Christmas lights, wreaths and other Christmas decorations.
Another Christmas tradition is having a Christmas tree in the home. Some families go to the mountains to cut down their Christmas trees. After the tree is brought home, family members decorate the tree with Christmas lights and ornaments. On Christmas day, Santa Claus leaves presents under the Christmas tree and in stockings that are usually hung over the fireplace.
Christmas parties are common in December in the United States. At my house we usually invite friends and family over for a Christmas party. There is always lots of food at the Christmas parties. My parents always make eggnog, which is a popular Christmas drink. Christmas cookies, candy canes and gingerbread houses are all common Christmas sweets.
Many times you see people doing Christmas Caroling in December in the United States. Christmas Caroling is something that people do with their friends and family. The participants knock on the doors of their neighbors and sing them Christmas Carols.
Those are of the common celebrations in the United States. I look forward to hearing about the Christmas tradition in Spain from all of you.
I wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!!
